Strule Arts Centre virtual programme continues

On Thursday 27 May at 8pm from Strule Arts Centre Facebook page the 3rd episode of The Culture Show features Larry Lowe chatting to Paul Maguire about his life in Music , his new single “I need you” which Larry recorded and released with Gerarda McCann with sales going to “Care for Cancer Omagh” and of course Gerarda will be performing “I need you”, live. Andrew Maguire will be interviewing Gerard McCabe who teaches English at The Dominican College, Portstewart, about his choice of literature. Reverend Jane Nelson and Father Kevin Mullan are back in the hot seats [or sofas in this instance] and this week’s topic is the influence of Christianity on Northern Ireland.  The music is provided once again by Gerarda and The Bob Quick Quintet with a set list Aidan McGale singing Mr Bojangles, and Gerarda swinging us through a host of classics including the Dusty Springfield hit “I think it’s going to rain today”

Saturday 29 May sees the return of the Cool Hand String Band to Strule Arts Centre.  The band is well known to local audiences and is a lively 4-piece who bring a bluegrass energy to a wide range of well-known classics. The Cool Hand String Band features Conor Conway on bass, Gary McAleer on banjo, Nevin Colton on guitar & vocals and Bronagh Broderick on fiddle & vocals, are a popular fixture on the NI music scene, regularly playing weddings, festivals, bars and venues.

All performances will be live on Strule Arts Centre’s Facebook page and will start each night at 8.00 pm.

Strule Arts Centre continues to work with local primary schools through their virtual programme.  More than 400 children from over 20 primary schools across the district are currently taking part in the ‘Chain of Love’ wellbeing project.  The project moto ‘Together we can do great things’ was developed by local primary school teacher Catherine Gormley and creatives through Strule Arts Centre.  With children’s wellbeing at the core of the project, it includes play therapy, arts and crafts, creative writing, reading, song and dance.  If you would like to find out more log on to www.struleartscentre.co.uk.
