Statement from the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Siobhán Currie re the tragic death of teenager, Nora Quoirin

The Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Siobhán Currie has expressed her sorrow at the news of the discovery of the body of missing 15-year old, Nora Quoirin, who had been missing for over a week in the Malaysian jungle. Speaking about the tragic news, Councillor Currie said

‘I was deeply saddened to hear the tragic news that Nora Quoirin’s body had been found. Like everyone else in our community, I was holding out hope that Nora would be returned to her family safe and well.

The loss of a child for any family is truly heartbreaking. I cannot imagine the grief and sense of loss that Nora’s family is experiencing.

On behalf of the citizens of the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area, I wish to convey my deepest condolences to Nora’s father, Sebastien, mother Meabh, sister Innes, brother Maurice and the wider Quoirin family circle at this very sad time.’
