My Geopark Activity Passport

The summer holidays are here!

You may be panicking about how to keep your children entertained this summer or already struggling to think of fun activities to carry out. With the current restrictions on travel leaving people less likely to go abroad now is the ideal time to have a staycation and explore the places you have right on your doorstep.

We have the perfect solution to keep your children amused over the next couple of months. Look no further than their very own Geopark Activity Passport! This booklet lists 20 of our most wonderful woodlands, wild wetlands, and subterranean places all of which are waiting to be discovered and explored. Stretching from the northern shores of Lower Lough Erne to the northern shores of Lough Oughter in the west of Cavan, the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark covers a unique, fascinating, and ever-changing landscape. A map is placed at the front of the Geopark Activity Passport to help you plan your route.

At each site we give you suggestions for fun, hands on ideas to carry out with your children that are educational, physical, or simply just to make memories that will last a lifetime. From peeking through the tree house at Ely Lodge Forest or cycling through Castle Archdale Forest, Co Fermanagh, to learning about the Giant’s Grave in Cavan Burren Park or rolling down a hill at Castle Saunderson, Co Cavan, there is something for all ages to enjoy.

Children can tick each activity and site off as they go, as well as drawing a picture of something they saw at that site or attaching a photograph that they took, until they have fully completed their trip around the Geopark.

Geopark Activity Passports can be picked up at a number of tourist sites throughout the Geopark including the Marble Arch Caves and Enniskillen Castle, Co Fermanagh and The Market House, Blacklion, Co Cavan or alternatively you can download a copy from www.marblearchcavesgeopark.com.

Please remember, if you are planning to visit any of the Geopark sites, follow the Leave No Trace principles and prepare for all weather conditions.
