The Fermanagh and Omagh Labour Market Partnership (F&O LMP), an Employability NI initiative led by the Department for Communities and managed by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, has formally launched its Action Plan for 2022/23.

The F&O LMP comprises partners from across the public, private and community/voluntary sectors, all of whom are committed to improve labour market conditions locally.

Speaking at the launch in the Townhall, Enniskillen on Tuesday 6 September, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Barry McElduff said,

“Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to ensuring that our economy is thriving, expanding and outward looking.

The establishment of the Labour Market Partnership to address challenges in the labour market will help to achieve this by ensuring that our businesses have access to a skilled workforce.

I commend the work already underway in progressing a number of skills academies to address skills gaps in key sectors.”

Thanking everyone for attending the launch and those involved in developing the 2022/23 Action Plan, Mr Ciaran McManus, Chair of F&O LMP said:

“The 2022/23 Action Plan consists of a variety of programmes which focus on reducing unemployment, improving skilled labour supply and tackling economic inactivity in the Fermanagh and Omagh area.  The Labour Market Partnership looks forward to implementing these programmes over the coming months and making a real difference to the residents in our local area”.

Also in attendance at the launch and representing the Department for Communities was Mr Martin Boyd, Employability NI Manager, who stated:

“The Department for Communities is committed to supporting Labour Market Partnerships and the implementation of local Action Plans.  I look forward to the outcome of the F&O LMP Action Plan as it includes some very innovative initiatives to address the local labour market challenges”
