Fermanagh and Omagh District Council to illuminate Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre on selected dates in October

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh on selected dates throughout the month of October.

Both buildings will be illuminated purple on Friday 1 October to mark United nations International Day of Older People. It also marks the start of Positive Ageing Month and more information on the programme of events for Positive Ageing Month is available on the Council website at www.fermanaghomagh.com.

Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre will be lit up blue on Friday 8 October on behalf of Guide Dogs NI to celebrate 90 years of Guide Dog partnerships.

On Saturday 9 October, both buildings will again be illuminated purple to mark Purple Flag month. Both Enniskillen and Omagh have attained Purple Flag status endorsing the town centres as safe and thriving locations with vibrant night-time economies.

Monday 11 October will see both Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre illuminated red to celebrate the Tyrone Senior Gaelic Football team’s recent All Ireland Senior Football Championship win, the fourth time the County has won the coveted Sam Maguire Cup.

Both buildings will be illuminated purple of Thursday 14 October to mark Language Disorder Day while on Friday 15 October, Enniskillen Castle will be lit up blue and Strule Arts Centre pink at the request of Sands NI to mark the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week. At the request of Department of Justice – Human Trafficking Engagement Group, both Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will be lit up red on Monday 18 October 2021 to mark Anti-Slavery Day in Northern Ireland while both buildings will also be illuminated red on Saturday 23 October on behalf of the North West Migrants Forum to mark Black History Month celebrating the culture and history of black people over the years.

To celebrate Halloween, both Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts centre will be lit up orange on Sunday 31 October.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council illuminates buildings to recognise days of significance to groups within the wider community. The Council also illuminates buildings in support of a particular campaign, charity or initiative.
