Easter at The Ardhowen Theatre

The Ardhowen Theatre continues its ‘At Home’ online programme with a host of Easter activities for all the family. The venue is offering music performances, song and dance workshops and craft workshops. The programme is fresh off the success of the venue’s contribution to the district’s St Patrick’s Day Festival, the first time The Ardhowen has been involved in marking this event.
The Easter programme starts with the Ardhowen Book Club which continues on the first Thursday of each month at 7pm, facilitated by Nuala O’Toole. This month’s book is the award-winning bestseller ‘Happy Families’ by Julie Ma. Places can be booked via the theatre’s website, www.ardhowen.com
Following their hugely successful Christmas performance, The Benn Sisters return with special guests on Friday 2 April, performing in the Gallery Bar and livestreamed at 8pm. It’s always a pleasure having Co Fermanagh country duo, Carrie and Leanne, perform and they are sure to delight their many fans once again with their feel-good harmonies.
On Saturday and Sunday, 11am daily, there will be fun and simple how-to-make Easter craft videos for children with local artist Julie Armstrong.
The Just Stage It Academy return with a 4-day song and dance Easter scheme for children aged 8 to 13 years of age. Starting on Monday 5 until Thursday 8 April, 10am to 11:30am daily, and based on ‘The Lion King’, children will learn the song ‘The Circle of Life’, using the African words, along with a dance routine to go with the song. This fun online workshop with Ksenia Zsikhotska from RTÉ’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’, is a fantastic opportunity for children to explore and develop their creative and performing skills. This course is available to book via The Ardhowen website and includes an e-learning pack for each child.
Performing at the theatre for the first time on Easter Monday, 5 April, and live-streamed at 8pm, are Allure Brass, an ensemble of experienced musicians taking a different twist on the classical brass quintet by incorporating favourite hits from the 90’s, 00’s and a wide range of light classical and popular music to suit all tastes. As musicians, they have performed in many major concert halls and events throughout Northern Ireland and the UK with ensembles including the Ulster Orchestra and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. Musicians include Andrew Gordon and Charles Fyffe on cornet, Norman Donaldson on Horn, Sarah Emerson on Trombone and Stephen Crooks on Tuba. Allure can promise an entertaining array of music so sit back and enjoy!
And finally, the Easter activities draw to a close with Fermanagh-born Belfast busking sensation John Garrity performing live in the Gallery Bar on Friday 9 April at 8pm. John promises a lively set with plenty of banter!
The online programme continues with more music and fun with further livestreamed music sessions lined up over the next couple of months, including the Leading Ladies, acclaimed jazz duo David Lyttle and Phil Robson, popular local Country outfit Ally and Marion, award-winning Irish trad group Réalta, and various workshops, for young and not so young, all to look forward to in the coming months.
Due to restrictions, the Not The Enniskillen Drama Festival has been postponed until June. More information on this unique and exciting partnership between The Ardhowen and the Enniskillen Drama Festival committee will be announced as soon as possible.
