A host of events took place across the Fermanagh and Omagh district on Friday 17 September to celebrate Culture Night 2021 through a mix of live and online events covering almost 12 hours of entertainment and talks.

Starting at 11.00am, the diverse programme of 25 events kicked off with online storytelling by the Verbal Arts Centre and closed with a late night jazz session presented by Omagh Jazz and Big Band Festival.

Many people availed of the opportunity to attend the live events with the weather encouraging those to attend the outdoor events while hundreds more joined the online events.

Speaking about Culture Night, the Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Errol Thompson said, “For the second year running, our local arts, sports, heritage and community organisations have risen to the challenge of presenting a different kind of Culture Night.  Despite the ongoing uncertainties, groups across the district have presented a fantastic programme of live and online events which truly showcased the cultural diversity of and talent in our district.  I would like to thank all the groups and individuals who gave of their time and expertise to make Culture Night 2021 such an enjoyable experience.”

Co-ordinated locally by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Culture Night is an all-island celebration of culture, heritage, creativity and the arts. Fermanagh and Omagh District Council sponsored this programme and activities, and all were presented free of charge.
