Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has announced a second call for Covid-19 Business Recovery & Revitalisation grants aimed at providing support for businesses to reopen safely and to and to aid recovery in urban and rural areas.

The capital grant scheme, which is funded by the Department for Communities for urban town centres and by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs for rural areas, allows businesses to apply for a grant of up to 100% of eligible costs from a minimum of £500 up to a maximum of £2,500 per property.  There is also an opportunity for businesses to apply as part of a collaborative application and receive up to £7,500 depending on the number of businesses participating.

Funding can be used to support modification of buildings internally and externally to facilitate social distancing and to support business operations, including the introduction of one-way systems, signage and outdoor seating, coverings, and awnings.

Speaking about the scheme, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Diana Armstrong, said;

“Local businesses play such a key role in the economic life of our district and the funding which will be made available through the second tranche of monies as part of the Covid-19 Business Recovery and Revitalisation Grant Scheme will assist them to help mitigate the costs associated with facilitating social distancing and other measures. The reopening of the scheme has come at an opportune time as businesses prepare to reopen for face-to-face service once more.

The initial round of funding as part of the scheme saw over 200 local businesses across the district receive letters of offer for financial support measures to make their businesses safer for employees and visitors representing a total investment of just over £425,000 to date.

I am delighted that the Council, in partnership with the Department for Communities and the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, can help sustain our local businesses as we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic and into recovery by administering this Grant scheme.

Throughout the pandemic, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, has been strong in its messaging in encouraging shoppers to stay local and support local and I would once again encourage residents to shop local and continue to support our small business sector”.

Online applications open at 12 noon on Thursday 29 April 2021 and close at 12 noon on Thursday 27 May 2021.
