In line with the NI Executive’s Pathway to Recovery programme, and as part of a programme for the phased return of the delivery of services at its Leisure facilities Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has confirmed that the Fitness suites at Omagh Leisure Complex and Fermanagh Lakeland Forum will reopen to the public on Wednesday 22nd July 2020.

The latest phase follows on from the reopening of the 3G pitches across the district, the tennis courts at the Bawnacre Centre, Irvinestown and the running track at both Fermanagh Lakeland Forum and Omagh Leisure Complex in the last few weeks.

Speaking about the reopening of the fitness suites, Councillor Chris Smyth, Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, said, “the Covid-19 pandemic has had a major impact on all our lives over the last few months. We have had to adapt to a new normal in the way we work, shop and in our recreational activities. As we move forward, the importance of looking after our physical and mental health and well-being cannot be overstated. I am delighted that the Council has been able to progress to reopening its fitness suites at Fermanagh Lakeland Forum and Omagh leisure Complex, albeit with some restrictions. We still have some way to go but this is certainly a very positive development and I would like to commend the staff of the Leisure Recreation and Sport service for the work they have done to ensure that the Council can begin to safely reopen its facilities.”

Fitness suite places must be prebooked and bookings can be made online. Payment must be made at time of booking. Centre staff will be available to ensure the safe operation of the fitness suites based on Leisure industry expertise and government guidance. The suites have already been professionally cleaned and equipment is placed to ensure social distancing protocol can be observed.

Fitness classes will resume at Fermanagh Lakeland Forum and Omagh leisure Complex from Monday 27 July 2020 and again booking and payment will be dealt with online while the fitness suite at Castle park Leisure Centre will reopen on 2 August 2020.

However, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will continue to be guided by advice from the Northern Ireland Executive and the Public Health Agency with regard to future plans for the reopening of the of its internal Leisure facilities.
