On Wednesday 14 November 2018, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, blue to support World Diabetes Day.

Blue is the official colour for the global event which is organised locally by Diabetes UK Northern Ireland. The initiative aims to raise awareness of the condition, which currently affects 100,000 people in Northern Ireland.

This year, the theme of World Diabetes Day is “The Family and Diabetes’, highlighting the wide-reaching impact of diabetes which extends to the family and support network of those affected, as well as promoting the importance of family in the management, prevention and education of diabetes.

The lighting up of Council buildings to mark specific days of significance is just one way in which the Council may provide support to a particular charity.
