Council recognised for Elected Member Development

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has been awarded a national standard for its commitment in developing and supporting its Elected Members in their civic leadership role.

The nationally accredited ‘Charter for Elected Member Development’ recognises the Council’s positive approach to the continuous learning and skills development of Councillors.

Speaking about the award, Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Howard Thornton, said:

“This award acknowledges the Council’s ongoing commitment to learning and development to assist Elected Members in their role as civic leaders within local communities.

I would like to commend all those Elected Members and Council Officers for their hard work to achieve this prestigious national standard.

The Council is committed to learning and development of both its Members and employees to promote the continuous development and improvement of Council services and the district as a place to live, visit, work and invest.”

The Charter for Elected Member Development is led by North West Employers and NILGA.
