1 FT SQ Exhibition for 2020 to open at Waterways Ireland

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s 12th annual 1 FT SQ exhibition was officially opened by the Chair of Council, Councillor Siobhán Currrie. recently at the headquarters of Waterways Ireland, Enniskillen.

The ‘1FT SQ’ exhibition has continued to evolve over the years and regularly attracts interest from creative practitioners of all genres and creative backgrounds from across Ireland and indeed further afield.

The exhibition also presents an ideal opportunity for established and new artists to showcase their work.

This year’s exhibition includes an eclectic selection of works in watercolour, acrylics, oil, pencil, mixed media, wax, print, textiles, photography, ceramics, porcelain and clay.

As part of the exhibition, Ciara Hambly of Hambly & Hambly Gallery, Enniskillen and Paul McKenna of the McKenna Gallery, Omagh, adjudicated the entries for this year’s competition selecting five prizewinners.

There was a joint first prize of a solo exhibition at Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, which went to Sasha O Brien and a 1 week residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Annaghmakerrig, Co Monaghan which was won by Peadar McDaid. The joint second prizewinners of a 1 week residency each in Annaghmakerrig were Julie Murphy and Olwyn Colgan and third prize of £150 towards art materials went to Patricia Kelly.

The exhibition runs until Saturday 1 February. Admission is free, and is open for viewing at Waterways Ireland from Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm.

Anyone wishing to purchase a piece of artwork should complete a form (hard copies in Gallery, Waterways Ireland) and bring to the Townhall, Enniskillen to complete payment with the Finance Department.
