NI2021 Event Programme
NI2021 Event Programme
Fermanagh & Omagh District Council’s Museum & Heritage, Good Relations and Community Services teams have jointly developed a programme of activities to commemorate the times through a diverse and inclusive approach, engaging with local communities, and underpinned by the Principles for Remembering.
Even with the passage of 100 years, the creation of the Northern Ireland State and the Partition of Ireland remain relevant today.
The Fermanagh and Omagh district, bordering the partitioned counties of Donegal, Leitrim, Cavan and Monaghan, has been greatly impacted by the period of major political and constitutional upheaval.

The NI2021 Event Programme, leading into 2022, is enhanced by the Digital Remembering Initiative. This initiative looks at recording local life 100 years ago for future generations through oral history recordings, filming and access to collections and stories. The initiative is supported by the Shared History Fund distributed by The National Lottery Fund on behalf of the Northern Ireland Office.
Dr Russell Rees has drawn together a Timeline for us of key dates between 1919-1923, during years of change across the island of Ireland. This timeline reflects events of both local and national significance. We would love to hear from you if you have a personal story, family or community history relating to 100 years, including any entries for our local timeline.
