Omagh Street Safe project

Omagh Street Safe project was introduced to assist people who may become vulnerable or in need of assistance on a night out in Omagh.

Street Safe volunteers, who take part in training such as first aid training, defibrillator training, mental health awareness training and vulnerability training, provide assistance and support from their base at the Public Services Centre and go out on foot throughout the town centre providing help where necessary. The service is provided every Saturday night from approximately 11pm-3am.

Since the project’s launch in 2013, volunteers have come into contact with thousands of people, they have helped many people to get home safely, they have administered first aid to approximately 300 people and, to date, they have collectively provided approximately 7500 hours of their own time, without pay, to the project.
