The programme of Irish Language events, organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, includes Irish language classes catering for all levels of learners; sean-nós and set dancing classes dancing; talks and discussions; music sessions; concerts and festivals; singing in Irish workshops, plus lots more.

Sean Nós Dancing

The popular sean-nós and set dancing class in Strule Arts Centre will also run for 12 weeks, from 6 pm to 7 pm.  This class is open to all levels of dancers and is a fun way to keep fit as well as being a very sociable activity. The 12-week dancing class costs £20 per person.

Singing in Irish

The singing in Irish group will meet from 7 pm to 8 pm on Wednesdays. The group is free to attend and is open to everyone, with new members especially welcome.  The singing in Irish group has proven to be an effective and enjoyable way of learning Irish.

Featuring local Ulster Scots group Camhanach who combine their music on pipes, bouzouki and banjo with traditional and modern songs from the Ulster Scots tradition.  Also featuring Noeleen Ní Cholla a prize winning singer of traditional Scottish and Irish Gaelic songs and Noel Ó Dúgáin a member of the legendary Donegal group Clannad.

An integral part of the Dromore Trad Fest (now in its 3rd year), this one-day Irish course provides classes for learners of the language at beginner, improver and advanced levels to improve their skills.  Classes on this course are also suitable for GCSE and A-Level students ahead of their summer exams.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council presents the 8th annual night of drama, music and song through the medium of Irish, featuring local adult Irish language group Aisteoirí na hÓmaí, students from the Christian Brothers Grammar School and other local performers.

Funding

Irish Language Bursaries

Bursaries from Fermanagh & Omagh District Council are available to support attendance at Gaeltacht courses.  They are available for young people aged 12-18, adults aged 18+ and for families with at least one adult and one child.

Irish & Ulster Scots in the Community

Grants of up to £500 are available from Fermanagh & Omagh District Council for community groups to host Irish Language or Ulster Scots classes in their local area.
