World Mental Health Day recognised by buildings lit purple

Published: 4th October 2016

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is illuminating two of its properties purple on Monday 10 October 2016 to mark World Mental Health Day.

Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh will be lit purple, the official colour for World Mental Health Day, on October 10, to help raise awareness of mental health.

One in five adults in Northern Ireland show signs of mental illness. Action Mental Health is a local charity which works to enhance the quality of life and the employability of people with mental health needs or a learning disability in Northern Ireland.

The lighting up of Council buildings to mark specific days of significance is just one way in which the Council may provide support to a particular charity. Enquiries regarding illuminating Council properties and charity support should be made to Louise McLaughlin, Community Services, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council by telephoning 0300 303 1777 or emailing louise.mclaughlin@fermanaghomagh.com.

For further information about World Mental Health Day, and Action Mental Health, including contact details for anyone in need of support, visit www.amh.org.uk. Support is also available by telephoning New Horizons, Enniskillen, 028 6632 3630.
