Sporting talent from across the Fermanagh and Omagh district was celebrated at the 2015 Fermanagh and Omagh Sports Forum Sports Awards on Friday 19 February 2016 in Mahon’s Hotel, Irvinestown.

The Awards, which are organised in partnership with Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, recognise and celebrate local sports men and women, individuals and teams, for outstanding sporting performance in 2015.

Speaking at the Awards ceremony, Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Thomas O’Reilly, said the Sports Awards were an opportunity to honour and mark the achievements of those who have brought distinction to the district and themselves through sporting success.

“Nominees have enjoyed enormous success across a range of sports at regional, provincial, national and international level,” said Councillor O’Reilly.

“I am very proud of you all and the success you have brought, not only to yourselves and your clubs or schools, but also to our district. You are great ambassadors for the Fermanagh and Omagh district and as Council Chairman, I would like to convey the Council’s gratitude to you, on behalf of the people of the area,” he added.

Councillor O’ Reilly also paid tribute to sports coaches who play a pivotal role in the success of the district’s sporting stars and noted that many of the Sports Awards nominees have benefited from the Council’s grants programme or from making use of the Council’s sports facilities.

Chairperson of Fermanagh and Omagh Sports Forum, Christine McCann, added:

“Fermanagh and Omagh Sports Forum was delighted with the number of nominations received for these inaugural Sports Awards. The Sports Forum takes great pleasure in seeing our sports clubs and individual athletes achieving success at all levels.
