Have your say on peace building priorities for district

Published: 7th June 2016

Residents are being encouraged to provide their feedback on peace building priorities for the Fermanagh and Omagh district.

A number of peace building priorities for the district have been identified following seven public consultation events, organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, where those in attendance shared their views and ideas on a new Peace and Reconciliation Action Plan for the area.

The Fermanagh and Omagh district has been allocated €3.3 million under the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation 2014-2020. The information gathered by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council during the consultation process will be used to develop a Peace and Reconciliation Action Plan for the area. The Action Plan will then act as the Council’s application to bid for the €3.3 million budget allocation.

The emerging peace and reconciliation programme ideas and priorities have been identified under the three specific objectives of the Peace IV Programme – children and young people; shared spaces; and building positive relations at a local level, which will be addressed by the Peace and Reconciliation Action Plan for the district.

The emerging peace building priorities and the opportunity to comment on them are available online. The online survey closes at 5.00 pm, Wednesday 15 June 2016. Alternatively contact Claudine McGuigan, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council on 0300 303 1777.
