PCSP Hosts Emergency Services day

The Fermanagh and Omagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership, in conjunction with key emergency service providers, is hosting an Emergency Services Day at the Broad Meadow, Enniskillen on Sunday 20 May 2018.
Chairman of the Fermanagh and Omagh District Policing Partnership, Councillor John Coyle, and entertainer, Nathan Carter, will open the event at 2.00pm. There is an action-packed programme of activities running to 4.00pm enabling the public to celebrate the work of the Emergency Services in the district and see demonstrations of the work they carry out on daily basis.
Councillor John Coyle, Chairman of the Fermanagh and Omagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership said;
“Hosting this event is integral to the role of the Fermanagh and Omagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership working collaboratively with partners organisations to promote community safety. and education amongst the public The Fermanagh and Omagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership is very pleased to host this event and sharing key safety messages.”
A full afternoon programme is planned both on land and in the water commencing with a display by the PSNI Dogs Unit. Castle Island is the venue for a simulated water rescue led by the RNLI. Subject to operational needs, the Irish Coastguard helicopter and the PSNI helicopter will also make an appearance during the afternoon.
A simulated road traffic collision by the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service will demonstrate the recovery of live casualties from an accident.
The Crash Car Simulator will be available throughout the afternoon. The Simulator is an educational tool to inform young drivers about the devastating consequences of road traffic collisions.
PSNI Inspector Paula Johnston said, “We are delighted to be working with the Policing and Community Safety Partnership to showcase some of the work we, and our colleagues within the Emergency Services, day to day.”
Gary Jones operations manager Enniskillen lifeboat station said;
“Enniskillen R.N.L.I. is pleased to be involved in the emergency services day. This day gives us the opportunity to showcase inter agency cooperation. The public will be able to see the facilities available in the area and we can promote our community and school education programme. The RNLI provide a 24/7 rescue service on Lough Erne manned by a team of volunteers.”
Key stakeholders taking part are the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, North West Mountain Rescue, the Red Cross, St John’s Ambulance, the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.
