Omagh Midsummer Carnival to be ‘Light, Bright and Beautiful’

Published: 26th May 2015

This year’s Omagh Midsummer Carnival will take place on Saturday 20 June 2015.

Organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, details of the popular midsummer event were announced by the Council Chairman, Councillor Thomas O’Reilly, at the Carnival launch held in the Strule Arts Centre. The Carnival is now in its 16th year.

The theme of this year’s Omagh Midsummer Carnival is ‘Light, Bright and Beautiful’.

At 1.00 pm the colourful Carnival Parade will leave Omagh County Primary School. Led by carnival group, Artastic, the parade will feature music, bands, fascinating props and children and adults from local community groups and schools dressed in creative costumes.

The Carnival Parade will then weave its way through Omagh town centre before arriving at Grange Park.

From 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm Grange Park will play host to a fun packed afternoon of family activities including children’s drama and story telling, art workshops, tree trail treasure hunt, dance, music and fitness performances and taster sessions, science, magic and clown shows, cage soccer, face painting, bouncy castle, balloon modelling and much more.

Admission to the event and its associated activities at Grange Park are free of charge.

Speaking at the 16th Omagh Midsummer Carnival launch event, Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council said:

“I am looking forward to experiencing my first Mid-Summer Carnival and seeing the Grange Park come alive with the colour, sights and sounds of the event together with what I hope will be a large crowd.

I would urge everyone to keep free the afternoon of Saturday 20 June 2015 to come along to the town centre and afterwards to the Grange Park for what promises to be a fantastic family day out.”
