New Charging structure for Commercial waste collection

Published: 10th August 2015

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is introducing changes to the charging structure for the refuse collection service to commercial outlets to align the charging regime and mechanism across the new district.

From 1 September 2015, all commercial bins for residual waste (Black or Green bins) or food waste (Brown Bins) will be required to display a commercial sticker, specific to the size of waste bin being serviced. Refuse collection charges will be set relating to the bin size. The charge of the Brown  Bin collection is 50% of the rate for the corresponding sized residual waste bin. Any chargeable bin which does not display the appropriate sticker will not be serviced.  The commercial Blue bin (recyclable) is FREE of charge to commercial customers.

Any business owner who has not yet made arrangements for their commercial collection service should contact the Council at either Gortrush in Omagh or Killyvilly in Enniskillen to arrange for their commercial waste collection stickers. It is important that the business’ Duty of Care documentation, together with the annual payment, is forwarded to the Council in order that the appropriate commercial sticker is provided to each customer before 31 August 2015 in order to prevent a disruption to the collection service.

The Council would like to encourage all users to utilise their Blue recyclable bin and, where applicable, their Brown food waste bin. Maximising the use of these bins will assist the Council in achieving its objective of minimising the amount of waste going to landfill and redirecting as much as possible into alternative processes.

It is important that all bins are presented at the kerb side on the day of collection, and that the lid is in a closed position.
