Lough Erne levels update

Published: 18th December 2015

Based on the current information available from Transport NI and Rivers Agency, water levels of Upper Lough Erne continue to fall and Rivers Agency expects the level to drop by approximately 2” each day until the weekend, given the current weather forecast.

Transport NI has advised that a drop of about 7” is required before all remaining roads can re-open, and if the levels continue to drop at the same rate, this could be realised by this weekend.

However, if there is a significant amount of rainfall across the catchment this fall in the lake levels could be reversed to some extent.

Rivers Agency, and the community response agencies, will continue to monitor the situation over the weekend and into next week.

Updated information on lake levels can be viewed on the DARD website.

Up to date information on road closures due to flooding is available from the Trafficwatch NI website.
