Food waste stickers for households on brown bin or food waste collection service

Food Waste Sticker

Published: 9th June 2017

If you currently receive a brown bin or separate food waste collection, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will be placing a sticker on the lid of your black or green bin to remind you that food waste should not be placed in these bins.

Please note these are not contamination stickers. They are a reminder to separate your food waste for recycling.

The recently introduced “Food Waste Regulations (Northern Ireland)”  places restrictions on food waste disposed of at landfill. Food waste will no longer be acceptable in black or green non-recyclable bins. All food waste must be presented for collection in your brown bin or food waste caddy. Once collected, it is taken to a processing plant where it is processed into chemical free compost and renewable energy.

The Council will be extending the separate food waste collection service to all households that currently receive no food waste collection service.  Indoor and external caddies, liners and information about the new service  will be delivered to each household.

Stickers will be placed on the lids of your black or green bins when your food waste collection service is in place.

For further information, please contact Anthea Owens, the Council’s Recycling, Education and Grants Officer on 0300 303 1777 or by email at anthea.owens@fermanaghomagh.com.
