Fermanagh and Omagh District Council launch Volunteer Policy at Celebration Event

Published: 31st October 2017

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council launched a new Volunteer Policy at The Ardhowen, Enniskillen on Thursday 26 October, during a Celebration Event to recognise the efforts of existing Council Volunteers.

The Policy has been developed by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and Volunteer Now to create new opportunities for Volunteers within the Council and to ensure good practice. The Council has nearly 100 volunteers registered in a range of roles and the Celebration Event was an opportunity to applaud the commitment of these volunteers and for the Council to show its appreciation.

At the event, the Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Councillor Stephen McCann said:

‘Volunteering is a selfless and dedicated act which allows other people to experience services in a friendly and positive environment. I commend the Council and Volunteer Now, who by working together in partnership, have devised this policy. I wish to thank the volunteers for their efforts and sincerely hope that they derive continued enjoyment and reward from their work.”

The Celebration also acted as an information event to outline new volunteer opportunities within Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. The new opportunities include Meet and Greet Volunteers at The Ardhowen and Strule Arts Centre, Event Volunteers and volunteering roles at Enniskillen Castle.
