Enniskillen has beaten off some high quality competition to win the Best Kept Medium Town in Northern Ireland award at this year’s Northern Ireland Amenity Council Abbey Insurance Best Kept Awards which were announced on Tuesday 18 October 2016.

This prestigious competition which will celebrate its 60th anniversary next year, highlights and recognises the tidiness and presentation of the town.

Speaking about the award, the Chairperson of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Mary Garrity commended all those involved in keeping the towns and villages of the district clean and tidy.

“I am delighted that Enniskillen has been successful in winning the ‘Best Kept Medium Town’ accolade in the Northern Ireland Amenity Council Abbey Best kept awards. It is an excellent achievement and is well deserved recognition for the efforts of Council employees, local volunteer groups in the communities, and members of the public in keeping the district a beautiful, clean and welcoming environment, with attractive, colourful floral displays throughout the summer. The Best Kept award for Enniskillen is an endorsement of the great work being undertaken in the district.”

Enniskillen’s success follows on from the success of Omagh which won the Best Kept Large Town category in the 2015 awards.
