Enniskillen 10k Road Race and Leisure Walk 2018 results

Enniskillen 10k Road Race and Leisure Walk, organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, attracted a crowd close to 700 runners and walkers on Saturday 9 June 2018.

The event got under way at the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum at 12 noon with the ever popular children’s fun run. At the conclusion of the fun run, each child received a medal.

At 2.00 pm, almost 700 walkers and runners of all ages and fitness levels gathered at the start line for the day’s main event, the Enniskillen 10k Road Race and Leisure Walk.

The run started and finished at the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum  and took participants through Enniskillen to the National Trust’s Castle Coole estate, around the Killyhevlin Industrial Estate, up the Ardhowen Hill, towards Derrychara playing fields and back over the Millennium footbridge and across the finish line

Stephen Cassidy from Irvinestown was the overall winner and first in the Male Open and 35 – 39 age in a time of 34 minutes and 32 seconds. Local runner Ronain Maguire from Belcoo finished second overall in the Male Open and was first in the Under 19 age category with a time of 35 minutes and 44 seconds whilst Michael Reilly from Cavan finished third overall in the Male Open and first in the 40 – 44 age category with a time of 36 minutes and 39 seconds.

Donna Mone from Monaghan was the overall female winner and first in the Female Open and 35 – 39 age category with a winning time of 40 minutes and 21 seconds.

Local runner Orla McGandy from Enniskillen finished second overall in the Female Open and was first in the 25 – 29 age category with a time of 43 minutes and 21 seconds and Heather Kelly from Newtownards completed the podium in the Female Open and was also first finisher home in the 50 – 59 age category with a time of 43 minutes and 25 seconds.
