Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s first Connect Centre – a customer focused hub designed to improve access to Council services and information for its service users – was officially opened by Vice-Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Alex Baird, today (4 June 2018).

The Connect Centre, located at 16 High Street, Omagh, is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 6pm.

A second Connect Centre is planned to open in Enniskillen in spring 2019.

As part of the official launch, members of the public are encouraged to share their views on their preferred name for the Council building where the Connect Centre and a range of other Council services are based.

The shortlisted names for the building located at 16 High Street are Strule House; Omagh House and High Street Building.

Residents can have their say on the new name for the Council building by visiting the Connect Centre or by logging onto the Council website, fermanaghomagh.com by 5pm, Friday 22 June 2018. The Council will then use this feedback to decide on the final name of the building.

Speaking at the opening of the Connect Centre, Councillor Baird, said:

“The Connect Centre represents a significant investment in improving customer services and the customer experience.  Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to providing a quality service to the people of the district and through the new Connect Centre here in Omagh and the one planned for Enniskillen, the Council is clearly demonstrating its commitment to the continued pursuit of excellence in service delivery.

This is my last official engagement of my term as Vice-Chairman of the Council and I can think of no better way to end my term than by opening this new facility and by doing so, reaffirming Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s commitment to making its services more accessible to all its customers.  It is my great pleasure to declare the Connect Centre officially open.”

Councillor Baird also extended his thanks to all those involved in the development of the Connect Centre including local contractor, Woodvale Construction, and Council officers.

Residents can access a range of information about Council services and carry out transactions with the Council at the new modern town centre premises.

Free compostable liners for food waste caddies and application forms for Council grants, bursaries, job opportunities and other Council programmes are available at the Connect Centre.

There is also a self-service area where members of the public can view the Council website, complete Council transactions online and view planning applications.

A number of Council staff are also located within the High Street building to ensure that the Council’s public facing services are easily accessible to all its service users. These include Planning; Building Control; Licensing (including dog licensing) and Economic and Regeneration and funded programmes such as Local Economic Development; Urban Regeneration; Rural Regeneration; Neighbourhood Renewal; Fermanagh and Omagh Local Action Group (LAG); Peace IV and the ASPIRE employability programme.

Customer Service Advisors are also on hand to assist service users to directly contact Council service areas that are not located within the building.

Registration of births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships continues to take place at the Council offices at the Grange, Omagh.

Services at all other Council facilities and offices including the Townhall, County Buildings and Killyvilly depot, Enniskillen and Lisnamallard House and Gortrush depot, Omagh continue to operate as normal.
