The Grange Park in Omagh received the prestigious Green Flag award at a recent ceremony in Bangor Castle.

The Green Flag, awarded by the environmental charity, Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, is an international benchmark standard for the management of parks and open spaces. It also acknowledges that the space boasts the highest possible standards and has excellent facilities.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, the Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Stephen McCann, said “this award is testament to the hard work of the Council staff in ensuring that the Grange Park is an accessible, environmentally sustainable and enjoyable place to spend time in. The award is further evidence of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s commitment to ensuring that the public shared accessible spaces under its control are of the highest quality and attractive to the general public. I would also like to thank the members of the public who have played a significant role in helping to maintain the Grange Park as a beautiful, clean and welcoming environment. ”

Grange Park was one of 60 parks, open spaces and green areas across Northern Ireland to have received Green Flag status. This is the first time the park which was extensively remodelled in 2013, has achieved this award.
