Council to light up Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre Blue for World Diabetes Day

Published: 11th November 2016

On Monday 14 November 2016, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, blue to support World Diabetes Day.

Blue is the official colour for the global event which is organised locally by Fermanagh Diabetes Support Group. This year marks the 25th anniversary of this awareness initiative, which was launched by the International Diabetes Federation with the support of the World Health Organisation in 1991, in response to growing concerns about the escalating health threat posed by diabetes

This year, the theme of World Diabetes Day is “Eyes on Diabetes” focusing on promoting the importance of screening to ensure early diagnosis of type 2 diabetes and appropriate treatment to reduce the risk of serious complications.

For further information on diabetes, please contact Anne Harland, Fermanagh Diabetes Support Group on 028 6632 2548. The group meets monthly in the Barnabas Centre, Darling Street, Enniskillen.
