Council launches Disability Swimming Programme

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has organised a free 8-week disability swimming programme for participants aged 5 – 17 years at the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen as part of its Inclusive Leisure Programme.

The new programme is suitable for beginners or those aiming to improve their swimming technique. It will be facilitated by appropriately qualified staff and will commence on Wednesday 25 April 2018 with half hour time slots available between 4pm and 7pm. There will be no sessions on Wednesday 16 May 2018 or Wednesday 20 June 2018.

Participants must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or carer whilst in the pool unless advised otherwise.

Speaking at the launch of the free disability swimming programme, the Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Stephen McCann, highlighting the importance of physical activity and increased exercise, said:

“The Council is committed to improving the health and well-being of all our residents. I would encourage young participants to avail of this opportunity to gain coached swimming lessons.”

Places on the programme are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
