‘Reflections of World War One – A musical Journey’ is a new performance by world renowned musician and composer, Tracy McRory. The workshop highlights Tracy’s own connections to World War One and also the story of the men and women from Ireland who served during World War One. Tracy has been involved over the last 15 years composing music and songs about The Great War. She is a four-times All Ireland champion fiddle player and also a noted Harper. She has performed many times at the Menin Gate, Ypres, Belgium. In 2017 she was commissioned along with Richard Laird to compose and perform a special piece for the centenary of the Battle of Messines in Belgium.

Tracy’s  grand-uncle was a Chaplain during World War One and kept a War Diary about his experiences in the trenches. Recently the very Chalice he used in those same trenches 100 years ago was found in America and returned to her and Tracy will share this story in her workshops.

This special Performance highlights local stories from World War 1 and uses film, imagery, music and narrative to tell their story. Their stories will weave their way throughout the performance creating a musical journey of remembrance and reconciliation.
