The Omagh & Sperrins walking festival is a 2 day event inviting locals and visitors alike to experience the Sperrins within the Fermanah & Omagh District Council area. On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March, you can chose a family, moderate or challenging walk to experience the Sperrins in your own way.

Day 1- Saturday 23 March 2019
Registration Point – An Creagán, Creggan, Omagh, BT79 9AF

Walk 1- Challenging Walk in the Glenelly Valley
The Historic Landscape of the Sperrins Challenging Walk will trace the reported route of the Flight of the Earls in 1607 when Hugh O’Neill reportedly made his way across the southern ridge of the Glenelly Valley on way to Lifford and Rathmullan.
Registration Time: 08.30am
Details: 14km / 6hrs; suitable for walkers who are comfortable with 5hrs+ walking on rough terrain.
Cost: £5 per person

Walk 2 – Moderate Walk along the Owenkillew and Owenreagh Rivers
The water courses of the Owenkillew and Owenreagh rivers provide the boundaries of this walk on the Natural Resources of the Sperrins. The walk will explore the natural and built heritage around Rouskey and Crockanboy.
Registration Time: 10:00am
Details: 10km or 4hrs; suitable for walkers comfortable with 3hrs+ walking on trails
Cost: £5 per person

Walk 3 – Family Walk around Loughmacrory
This walk will focus on Archaeological Heritage of the Sperrins, viewing spectacular ancient sites along the way.
Registration Time: 11.30am
Details: 5km or 2hrs; suitable for walkers with children or people new to hiking
Cost: £3 per person or £6 per family of 4

Day 2- Sunday 24 March 2019
Registration Point – Drumquin (venue to be confirmed)

Walk 1 – Challenging Walk over Bollaght Mountain
Sloughan Glen is the ideal location to start this Challenging Walk over Bollaght Mountain connecting with the International Appalachian Trail along the Ulster Way
Registration Time: 08.30am
Details: 14km / 6hrs; suitable for walkers who are comfortable with 5hrs+ walking on rough terrain.
Cost: £5 per person

Walk 2 – Moderate Walk over Dooish
Dooish provides of a moderate hike from the village of Drumquin to the summit of Dooish Hill and back by a circuitous route themed as Landscape and Heritage.
Registration Time: 10:00am
Details: 10km or 4hrs; suitable for walkers comfortable with 3hrs+ walking on trails
Cost: £5 per person

Walk 3 – Family Walk around Lough Bradan
A circular route around Lough Bradan provides a tranquil walk in the area of Tullyhill and Meenmossogue Glebe to explore this upland environment Nature Photography for Beginners Walk.
Registration Time: 11:00am
Details: 6km or 2hrs; suitable for walkers with children or people new to hiking
Cost: £3 per person or £6 per family of 4

Please Note: Participants should wear appropriate sturdy footwear on Easy Walks and Hiking Boots are essential on Moderate-Challenging walks. Please be prepared for all weathers. Transport will be provided to start of each of walk.
