Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Business Start-Up Programme
Responsibility for promoting business start-up provision transferred to Councils on 1 April 2015 and from that date the Council’s Regional Start Initiative was delivered throughout the district by Enterprise Northern Ireland.
This contract expired on 21 October 2016 and from 22 October this year Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s New Business Start-Up Programme is also being delivered in conjunction with Enterprise Northern Ireland and Omagh Enterprise Company and Fermanagh Enterprise Limited.
Experienced, accredited business advisers will provide a comprehensive support package for clients wishing to start a business which will culminate in the adviser guiding them through the process of developing a robust business plan for their enterprise.

Northern Ireland ERDF Investment for Growth and Jobs Programme
During the past number of years the Economic Development Section delivered a myriad of business support programmes part funded by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund under the Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland and work is currently underway to develop programmes for the 2014-2020.
The 2014-2020 Northern Ireland ERDF Investment for Growth and Jobs Programme aims to boost economic growth and will focus on the following areas:
* Strengthening research, technological development and innovation
* Enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs
* Supporting the shift towards a low carbon economy.

The First Stop Shop, provides information, signposting and support to local “start-up” and established businesses, in order to facilitate the growth of their businesses and encourage take-up of the current help available from agencies such as Invest Northern Ireland and Intertrade Ireland.
This project is part financed by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund under the Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland.
The First Stop Shop will:
- Provide businesses with on-going support to engage with Business Support Agencies successfully;
- Support significant increase in uptake of opportunities for support through Invest NI and other support agencies;
- Through support to such interventions, increase proportion of local businesses making transition to SME and Export Status;
- Contribute to the increased competitiveness and productivity of Fermanagh business sector, supporting a reduction in the productivity gap between NI and UK.
We will help retain skilled local employees through their employment in successful, new business start-ups and continue to promote and develop an Entrepreneurial culture in the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area.
The First Stop Shop is managed by a consortium led by South West College and including Peter Quinn Consultancy Services Ltd., FEDO, Tom Martin Consultancy and Sales Plus.
