Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has unveiled details of a new grant aidprogramme this week. The RECOVER grant aid programme has been developed to support arts, community and sports groups with the recovery and reanimation of their activities in line with the NI Executive’s five stage Coronavirus recovery plan.

This call for applications is in addition to the Covid-19 Community Fund which disbursed over £129,000 of emergency funding to 64 groups since it was established by the Council in April 2020.

The RECOVER funding aims to support organisations renew planned activities in an online or socially distanced capacity. It is hoped that provision of funding will encourage community action, assist to rebuild confidence within communities and promote a partnership approach to coordinate activities, maximising the reach and impact. Funding can be used to support and develop volunteering in communities, promoting inclusive activities that foster resilience at a local level.

Speaking about the programme, Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Chris Smyth said; “The RECOVER programme will provide financial support to community organisations in addressing community needs as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. Community and volunteering organisations have been at the forefront of the effort during the crisis, and it is important that we support their continuing effort in tackling social isolation and rebuilding confidence at a local level.”

Applications for RECOVER funding will open on 30 June 2020 and there are three closing dates on a rolling basis, ie, 20 July, 21 September and 20 November 2020 (subject to the availability of funding).

Older Persons groups should continue to work with South West Age Partnership for the submission of applications in line with previous arrangements for the sector.
