Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, in partnership with Translink Ulsterbus, has announced the introduction of a pilot scheme offering a free shuttle bus service running from the Ulsterbus depot in Omagh to Gortin Glen Forest Park over the next 4 Sundays commencing on Sunday 18 July 2021.

The new pilot initiative is part of the Council’s continuing commitment to the redevelopment and transformation of Gortin Glen Forest Park into a family friendly outdoor experience.

Speaking about the new bus service, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Errol Thompson, said;

“Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to working with other key stakeholders to make the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area a wonderful place to live work and visit. The Council has worked closely with the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, to transform the Gortin Glen Forest Park into a location which offers something for everyone.

It is a wonderful natural resource and the recent developments have attracted significant numbers to the park. This innovative partnership with Translink will make Gortin Glen Forest Park even more accessible for visitors and I would encourage everyone to make use of this free service.”

Sean Falls, Translink Service Delivery Manager said, “This new bus service will better connect both local people and visitors with the splendour of Gortin Glen Forest Park. We are pleased to work with our local council to offer this healthier more sustainable travel option.  We see this as part of our drive to tackle climate change, promote green tourism and enhance local air quality to help protect this scenic and beautiful western gateway to the Sperrin mountains and its natural environment.”

The bus departs from Omagh Bus Depot and returns from Gortin Glen Forest Park at regular intervals both morning and afternoon, stopping at the Strathroy estate for pick up and drop off en route. Please click on this link for bus times.
