Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has organised a free 12 week Inclusive Archery programme for adults commencing on Monday 11 January 2021 at Fermanagh Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen from 8.30pm – 9.30pm.

The free programme has been organised by the Council, in partnership with the Public Health Agency (PHA), as part of the Healthy Towns West programme under the Making Life Better framework of Empowering Healthy Living and will be delivered by a fully qualified coach.

Speaking about the forthcoming programme, the Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Chris Smyth, said:

“In these difficult times, being physically active is more important than ever for our health and well-being. Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to ensuring that its programmes are as inclusive as possible and the Council is delighted to be, once again, working in partnership with the Public Health Agency to provide this inclusive opportunity for our residents to get active through archery’’.

Fiona McCann Health and Wellbeing Senior Officer with the PHA said

“It’s important to be physically active at each stage of our lives and, combined with eating healthily, this can help us age well and feel good. Regular physical activity will help keep the heart and lungs working efficiently, maintain a healthy weight, keep muscles and bones strong, and help reduce the risk of developing chronic conditions including some cancers and Type 2 diabetes. Being more physically active can also help to reduce anxiety and stress. I would encourage people to get involved with this programme which promises to be great fun.”

Places on the Inclusive Archery programme are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Programme registration is available from Monday 30 November 2020.
