Launch of Omagh and Sperrins Walking Festival
12th March 2018
The Omagh and Sperrins Walking Festival will take place on Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 March and will offer opportunities for locals and visitors alike to explore some of the spectacular Sperrins region of Northern Ireland.
The walking festival, organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, will offer a series of Challenging, Moderate and Easy (family-oriented) walks, led by experienced guides, over the two day period, with registration on Saturday at Gortin Activity Centre and on Sunday at An Creagan Visitor Centre.
Speaking at the launch of the Walking Festival, Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Stephen McCann said, “The Festival will undoubtedly raise awareness of the landscape located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and highlight the spectacular scenery this region has to offer. I would encourage everyone to use this opportunity to get out and enjoy our wonderful countryside. This event not only provides people with the opportunity to enjoy these walks at a level which is suitable for all ages and abilities, but also provides an opportunity to explore the Omagh and Sperrins region.”
Participants should wear appropriate footwear and clothing and have due regard for the weather forecast on the day of the walk.
