Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is inviting members of the public to share their views on a proposed Environmental Improvement Scheme for the streetscape of the Campsie area of Omagh.

The proposed works, which are subject to securing funding, include improvements to paving, kerbing, road realignment, drainage, signage, planting and landscape design, street furniture, lighting (including festive lighting), and pedestrian crossing points among others.

As part of the early consultation process, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is seeking the views of members of the public which will be used to help inform the concept designs of the proposed scheme.

Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Errol Thompson, said:

“The proposed Environmental Improvement Scheme for the Campsie area is designed to enhance the area as a place to live, work and visit and to improve pedestrian and traffic route linkages to other areas of the town.

This initial consultation is an important first step to helping to create designs for the scheme which will be further consulted upon once ready.

Undertaking this preparatory work now will ensure that we are in the best place possible to progress with the scheme when funding becomes available.”

The proposed scheme includes the Market Street, Campsie Road, Campsie Drive, Campsie Avenue and Holmview Avenue areas of Campsie.

Further consultation with local businesses, residents and visitors to the area will be undertaken in 2022 once the concept designs have been completed.
