Have your say on draft Local Development Plan for the District

Members of the public are encouraged to have their say on the Local Development Plan 2030 draft Plan Strategy for the Fermanagh and Omagh District.

The Local Development Plan will help to shape the District’s future development and growth and will set out the planning policy framework for making day-to-day decisions on planning applications.

A series of drop in sessions and public meetings are currently taking place across the Fermanagh and Omagh District where people have the opportunity to tell Fermanagh and Omagh District Council what it thinks of the draft Plan Strategy.

Encouraging members of the public to have their say on the Local Development Plan draft Plan Strategy, Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Howard Thornton said:

“The Local Development Plan aims to meet the needs of all the people of the district by creating sustainable communities within the context of  a healthy, well planned, natural and built environment.

The Local Development Plan will set out the framework for future planning and sustainable development of the district until 2030. This period of consultation provides everyone with the opportunity to shape the future of the District and I encourage people to get involved and have their say”

A number of drop in information sessions and public information meetings have already taken place in Derrylin, Derrygonnelly and Omagh with further drop in sessions and public information sessions taking place as follows:

Members of the public are invited to attend the drop in sessions and public information meetings to tell Fermanagh and Omagh District Council what it thinks of the draft Plan Strategy, based on the tests of ‘soundness’.

This includes feeding back on whether the draft Plan Strategy:
•has been prepared properly following relevant legislative procedures;
•has taken account of regional policy and guidance and the Fermanagh and Omagh Community Plan; and
•is based on a strong evidence base, provides for implementation and monitoring and is flexible to adapt to changing circumstances.

The draft Plan Strategy, has been developed taking into account the characteristics of the Fermanagh and Omagh District and the views of residents, consultees and Council Members.

Copies of the draft Plan Strategy and a number of supporting documents are available for inspection at Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Offices at the Grange and the Connect Centre, Omagh and the Townhall, Enniskillen.

Representation forms are available at the three Council offices and are also available to download from the Council website at www.fermanaghomagh.com.

The Local Development Plan 2030 draft Plan Strategy for the Fermanagh and Omagh District is open for public consultation until 12 noon on Friday 21 December 2018. Comments or representations received after this time will not be considered.
