Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has organised an Inclusive Archery programme for young people aged 8 to 17 and adults commencing at Omagh Leisure Complex, on Tuesday 2 April 2019.

The following sessions are available, 4pm – 4.45pm and 5pm – 5.45pm for juniors and adults programme 6pm-7pm.  The free sessions which have been organised by the Council in partnership with the Public Health Agency (PHA), as part of the Healthy Towns West programme, will be delivered by a fully qualified coach.

Speaking about the forthcoming programme, Chairperson of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Howard Thornton said

“Fermanagh and Omagh District Council recognises and promotes the benefits of leading an active lifestyle which is one of the key themes of the Fermanagh and Omagh Community Plan and is delighted to once again work in partnership with the PHA to provide this opportunity to our residents.

The inclusive archery programme has been specifically designed to help people who have limited mobility or who find taking exercise difficult.  This activity will help those attending   active while at the same time helping them to  promote positive health and well-being.

Colette Brolly, the PHA’s lead on physical activity, said:

“Being physically active is important for health and well-being. Involvement in physical activity from a young age can help develop and encourage life-long participation in activities which will support a healthy and active lifestyle. I would encourage all participants including those with a disability to get involved in the programme.”

Places on the Inclusive Archery programme are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Participants must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or carer for the duration of each coaching session.
