Film events at Strule Arts Centre in May

Are you a film buff and enjoy short films? Interested in film making? Then now is your chance to find out more about the possibilities of film in the company of Bob Gallagher, Artsland International Artist in Residence, with two free events taking place at the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh in May.

Bob is a director, writer and cinematographer from Dublin, now based in An Creagan until June as part of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s Artsland programme.

His short films have been screened at festivals internationally and his music videos have been featured by some of the world’s leading music and arts publications. He was declared a ‘Good Soldier of Cinema’ by renowned film director Werner Herzog after studying with him in Cuba, where he created two short films alongside the master filmmaker. Bob has recently begun exploring the medium of 3D photography and has just completed his first solo exhibition ‘Forced Perspectives’.

On Thursday 9 May 2019 at 7.30 pm, Bob will present some of his work, followed by a short question and answer session at Strule Arts Centre while on Tuesday 14 May at 11 am, Bob will offer insights into his own experience as a music video and film director and give a broader picture of career possibilities working in film and music. Both events are free however those interested in attending are advised to book their place.

Artsland is a programme involving artists from across the globe living, working and creating in the Fermanagh and Omagh district. Each artist delivers a programme of social engagement activities with a variety of local community, youth and other groups, across all three themes of Artsland – Arts for All; Multiple Identities; and Loughs, Bogs & Mountains. Artsland is funded by Arts Council NI and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.

In addition to the events at the Strule Arts Centre, Bob will also deliver 6-week film making courses with Hospital Road and Carrickmore Youth Clubs and two full day workshops at the An Creagan Centre.
