Fermanagh and Omagh District Council adds additional dates to illuminate Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre in September

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has confirmed additional dates for its September programme of light ups for Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh.

On Wednesday 15 September, both buildings will be illuminated green for the first International Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness Day on behalf of Cure Myotonic Dystrophy UK Charity (CDM).  Myotonic dystrophy is a genetic neuromuscular disease. 

On Monday 20 September, Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will be bathed in pink on behalf of the NHS Blood and Transplant NI Organ Donation Team to mark Organ Donation Week which takes place from 20-26 September.  

Following on from this, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will light both buildings yellow on Tuesday 21 September as part of Good Relations Week (20-26 September). The theme for 2021 Good Relations Week is ‘Brighter Days Ahead’ with a focus on youth projects promoting good relations.  

To mark Recycling week, which this year runs from 20-26 September, both Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will be illuminated green. 

The Council will then illuminate both buildings pink on Saturday 25 September in recognition of Omagh Pride and to celebrate diversity and yellow on Sunday 26 September to mark the end of ‘Falls Awareness Week’.

At the request of the St Vincent de Paul Society Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will be lit up blue to celebrate St Vincent de Paul day which is marked worldwide. 

Both buildings  were lit up gold on Wednesday 1 September on behalf of Alice’s Arc to mark Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and red on Thursday 9 September on behalf of Air Ambulance NI as part of Air Ambulance Week.  

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council illuminates buildings to recognise days of significance to groups within the wider community. The Council also illuminates buildings in support of a particular campaign, charity or initiative.
