Enniskillen has been named the Best Kept Medium Town in Northern Ireland at this year’s George Best Belfast City Airport Best Kept Awards held recently in Ballymena.

Now in its 62nd year, the prestigious competition, organised by the Northern Ireland Amenity Council, recognises the tidiness and presentation of the villages, towns and cities across the country.

At an event held last week at Enniskillen Townhall to thank the staff whose hard work helped secure the award, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Councillor Siobhan Curry commended all those involved stating:

‘It is an excellent achievement and is an endorsement of the efforts of Council employees from the Parks and Open Space service, local volunteer groups in the communities, and members of the public in keeping the district a beautiful, clean and welcoming environment, right throughout the year.

It is also a genuine and great example of a multi-disciplinary team effort with contributions from Street Scene, Horticulture, Grounds Maintenance and Building maintenance squads. All staff are to be congratulated on their work in bringing this great success to Enniskillen.’

This is the third time Enniskillen has scooped the Best Kept Medium Town (Northern Ireland) award in recent years having previously enjoyed success in 2016 and 2018. The town also secured All Ireland Best kept Medium town award in 2018.
