Council warns public about suspicious calls claiming to come from Council staff

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has been made aware of suspicious telephone calls being made to residents by individuals claiming to be from the Council, requesting personal information or information to be sent to a mobile phone number.

In the event that residents receive a similar call, the Council advises not to disclose any personal information or send information to a mobile number, if there is any doubt as to whether the call is genuine.

Any contact the Council makes with the public in relation to Council services will be through personal contact by an authorised member of staff. If anyone is any way suspicious about a call they receive from someone claiming to be from the Council they should take the contact details of the caller and call the Council directly on 0300 303 1777 to verify the caller’s details, ideally from another telephone line in case the original caller has remained on the line.
