Council warns of suspicious emails

PLEASE NOTE: This article is over 1 year old and may not contain the most up-to-date information.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has been made aware of some of our customers and service users receiving emails from Council employees which requests recipients to download an attachment, click on a link and to insert a username and password.

These emails should be deleted and no details should be entered – the Council will never ask anyone to enter in their email address account name and associated password – we never have any requirement to do so.

If however you have opened an attachment and proceeded to put in your email address and password then recipients should change their email password immediately.

If in doubt on whether an email is genuine, do not open the email and contact the Council officer that the email appears to have been sent by to check its authenticity.

Suspicious emails should be reported to Action Fraud, telephone 0300 123 2040 or visit www.actionfraud.police.uk/report_fraud
