Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will be installing ‘Stay Safe, Shop Safe’ street dressing in Enniskillen and Omagh town centres over the coming weeks.

New pavement graphics, bollard sleeves, lamp post signs, and posters for shops have been created to encourage people to stay safe and maintain social distancing while shopping or visiting the district’s urban towns.

A number of locations around the towns and outdoor advertising sites will be dressed to deliver the key messages to keep people safe, increase consumer confidence when visiting town centres and brighten up the streetscape creating a welcoming and safe environment.

Speaking about the initiative Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Cllr Chris Smyth said “this is another welcome step to aid the recovery of the town centres across the district. At this time, it is important that we continue to follow the public health guidance to stop the spread of Covid-19 and by washing your hands regularly, maintaining social distancing and wearing masks, we can feel confident about our safety in returning to support our local businesses. The new Stay Safe, Shop Safe messages will serve as a visible reminder of the role we have to play in ensuring that our businesses remain safe for shoppers to visit.”

The signage is the latest measure undertaken by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council to make town centres safe for everyone to support local shops and businesses following the success of the Confidence Mark initiative, which premises can display after undertaking a self-assessment checklist to reassure customers that measures have been taken by the business to keep them safe. Already more than 1250 businesses across the district have signed up to the Confidence Mark scheme.
