Council to reopen further two household recycling centres to the public

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is reopening its household recycling centres at Belleek and Newtownbutler from Monday 1 June 2020 to facilitate the disposal of essential waste for residents as part of a programme of phased reopening of its recycling centres.
This follows the recent reopening of centres at Enniskillen, Omagh, Carrickmore, Kesh, Fintona and Lisnaskea following the amendment to essential journey regulations by the Northern Ireland Executive.
The recycling centres at Belleek and Newtownbutler will be open to the general public to dispose of household bagged non recyclable waste and bagged gardening waste only.
Both recycling facilities will reopen on Monday 1 June 2020. The opening hours are as follows:
Belleek: Mon, Wed – Fri 10.00am – 6.00pm Sat 10.00am – 5.30pm. Closed Tuesdays.
Newtownbutler: Mon-Wed, Fri 10.00am – 6.00pm Sat 10.00am – 5.30pm Closed – Thursdays.
Access to both sites will be restricted to cars only, with one occupant per car. No vans or trailers will be permitted on either site. People must follow 2 metre social distancing from other site users and site staff at all times.
Speaking about the reopening of both centres, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Siobhán Currie said,
“The opening of Belleek and Newtownbutler Recycling Centres represent the next phase in the reopening of recycling centres across the district.
While we are seeing a slow easing of restrictions, I would ask that you to travel to the recycling centres only if your journey is absolutely necessary to dispose of essential bagged waste.
The Council continues to follow government guidance in relation to its response to COVID-19 and will take all steps necessary to safeguard the health & safety of staff and visitors to recycling centres.”
All visitors to the sites will be required to follow traffic management controls put in place to manage the safe disposal of waste. A number of restrictions will be in place on site to ensure the safety of Council staff and those visiting the facility. Only cars will be admitted to the Centres. Vans or trailers will not be allowed and there should be only one person per car. All visitors must keep a distance of 2 meters from others at all times and dispose of their own waste on site. This may result in longer waiting times than normal and the Council would ask that visitors to the sites be patient and always follow the rules of admission to the civic amenity sites to ensure the health and safety of everyone.
Visitors to the sites should bring their own gloves and use hand sanitizer provided. Bins will be available at the exit to dispose of gloves safely.
Anyone who is shielding or self-isolating should not visit the Recycling Centres under any circumstances.
