Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh on selected dates throughout the month of June.

Both buildings will be illuminated blue on Sunday 13 June to mark the end of Child Safety Week.

Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will then be lit up red on Monday 14 June at the request of Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke (NICHS) to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the organisation. For further information on the work of NICHS, please visit www.nichs.org.uk or telephone 028 9032 0184.

The Council will again illuminate both buildings blue on Saturday 19 June to mark World Refugee Day.  In 2000, the United Nations General Assembly designated June 20 as World Refugee Day and it has been marked all over the world ever since. This year it coincides with the World Refugee Week (15th-21st June).

At the request of Deafblind UK, both Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will be lit up purple on Sunday 27 June to mark the start of Deafblind Awareness Week which runs this year from 27 June –  3 July. It also marks the birth of author, disability rights activist and deafblind advocate, Helen Keller.

Earlier this month, both buildings were illuminated blue on Tuesday 1 June at the request of Omagh Volunteer Centre to highlight the tremendous work and commitment of volunteers across the district as part of Volunteer Week which takes place this year from 1 – 7 June.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council illuminates buildings to recognise days of significance to groups within the wider community. The Council also illuminates buildings in support of a particular campaign, charity or initiative.
