As part of its commitment to support and assist community and voluntary sector organisations, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is offering free online courses for community and voluntary sector representatives based in the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area.

Speaking about the free courses, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Diana Armstrong said;

“Undoubtedly, the Covid-19 global pandemic has presented unprecedented challenges to everyone not least here in our district. As the pandemic has progressed, the Council has worked in partnership with community and voluntary sector organisations across the district to respond to those challenges. While community representatives provided and continue to provide tremendous support to the vulnerable and those in most need of assistance, it has been tiring both mentally and physically so it is important that they practice self-care during these most difficult times.

The upcoming online courses will provide  support and advice to enable our community and voluntary sector representatives to continue to carry out the excellent work they are doing and I would encourage those who give of their time so generously in these areas to avail of this training.”

The series of courses  starts on Monday 18 January 2021 at 7. 00pm with a webinar delivered by world renowned author, Declan Coyle entitled “The Green Platform” – feel positive, motivate yourself and your committee for the year ahead.

This workshop will provide a transformational template for inspiring  community work.  Declan will explain how to shift thinking to positive proactivity and how to then to inspire  committees.

The second training opportunity, “Introduction to Governance Webinar” will take place on Tuesday, 16 February 2021 at 7.00 pm.  It will provide an introduction to charity governance and will be particularly useful to those who are newly elected or appointed on to a committee or board of a charitable organisation (charity trustees) or to those charity trustees (committee members or directors) who wish to understand more about their role and what is expected of them.

The final webinar in this series, “Charities Annual Reporting” is scheduled to take place on Thursday 18 February 2021 at 7.00 pm.

This session will provide trustees with simple and practical guidance on charity annual reporting requirements. The session will cover the completion of the annual monitoring return, content of Trustee’s Annual Reports, the production of annual accounts and the requirement to have them audited independently.

All sessions will be interactive and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions. The sessions will be delivered using zoom and joining instructions will be sent to registered participants in advance.
