Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has launched its annual summer activity programme which, due to the restrictions around the Covid-19 pandemic, will this year have a different and novel format.

The 6-week programme will focus on individual-based activities, centred around the fundamentals of movement and skills which are necessary components for all sports.

Speaking about the programme, the Chairman of Fermanagh an Omagh District Council, Councillor Chris Smyth said “with the restrictions in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s summer activities programme is a little different to the usual one. I am delighted that an innovative multi skills programme has been developed that will offer children and young people from across Fermanagh and Omagh an outlet to get active and learn new skills in various locations across the district. I would like to commend the staff of the Leisure, Recreation and Sport service on devising such an excellent programme and I would encourage as many young people as possible to sign up to participate in the programme.”

The summer multi skills activity programme is part of a wider programme of events being organised across the district by the Council for the summer months.

Due to government guidelines, requirements for social distancing and hand sanitising will be required as part of these programme.  The number of participants for each session will be limited and consequently sessions will be short to accommodate time slots for more participants.
